To support emergency relief efforts and accelerate post-disaster recovery in the mudslide-affected areas of Gyirong County, Xigaze, Xizang Autonomous Region, Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) announced on Thursday (September 3) that, with the full assistance of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao Special Administrative Region, GEG and Lui Che Woo Family Charitable Foundation will jointly donate MOP10 million. The donation will be used exclusively to support emergency search and rescue operations, relief supplies, temporary resettlement of affected residents, medical assistance, and subsequent disaster reconstruction and recovery efforts in the affected communities.
A severe mudslide recently struck Gyirong Port in Gyirong County, Xigaze, Xizang Autonomous Region. This sudden natural disaster caused extensive damage to local transportation networks, infrastructure, and residents’ livelihoods, as well as significant casualties and property losses, drawing widespread concern across the nation.
Mr. Francis Lui, Chairman of GEG, expressed his deep concern for the affected compatriots, his profound sadness over the devastating mudslide in Gyirong County, his sincere sympathies to the affected residents, and his highest respect to all frontline rescue personnel. He stated that in the face of such a severe natural disaster, all sectors of society swiftly joined hands to offer aid, rapidly pooling significant support and fully demonstrating the Chinese nation’s enduring tradition and spirit of unity, mutual assistance, and shared resilience in times of adversity. Mr. Lui added that as a patriotic enterprise rooted in Macau, GEG remains committed to fulfilling its social responsibilities and responding actively to the Macau SAR Government’s call for support. GEG hopes this donation will provide timely and meaningful assistance to frontline relief efforts, helping affected compatriots overcome current challenges and heal the trauma caused by the disaster.
