Asia Pioneer Entertainment (stock code: 8400) recently held a celebration event at Wynn Palace to mark its 20th anniversary. Asia Pioneer, an electronic gaming equipment distributor based in Macau, has witnessed the growth and development of the gaming industry in Macau and the broader Asian region over the past two decades. Industry experts and partners attended the event to mark this important 20-year milestone.
Herman Ng Man Ho, CEO of Asia Pioneer Entertainment, said in an interview that the company has gone through various stages over the past two decades. Since its listing in 2018 and through the pandemic until now, the business has gradually returned to the right track. Despite increasing global economic uncertainties, the company remains optimistic about the industry’s prospects.
Ng hopes the Macau government will increase the number of slot machines in Macau from the current 12,000 units to 19,000 units within the next one or two years, describing the Macau market as “more than capable of accommodating this.” He also pointed out that if Macau wants to transform into a mass market, investing in slot machines would be very beneficial.
He also believes the company’s biggest advantage is its flexibility to introduce products from around the world to the Macau market and quickly adjust them according to market demand, thereby enhancing market adaptability. The company will continue to adjust its strategy based on market conditions and keep a close eye on development opportunities in both Macau and international markets.
Asia Pioneer Entertainment’s Chief Financial Officer, Tony Chan Chi Lun, also noted that since there is a cap on the number of gaming tables in Macau, electronic gaming machines and electronic tables currently account for a smaller share of gambling revenue. About 93% of Macau’s total gaming revenue comes from gaming tables, while gaming machines only account for approximately 7%, indicating greater growth potential for gaming machines in Macau. Therefore, this will be a key focus for future market expansion. Furthermore, slot machines can incorporate different themes, and the diversity and innovation of these themes make them more attractive compared to the relatively unchanging gaming table games.
Chan added that Macau has been vigorously promoting non-gaming elements in recent years. Asia Pioneer Entertainment has diversified in line with this policy by developing businesses such as vending machines in addition to providing gaming equipment and services. The company is now the second-largest supplier in Macau and also provides sales channels for local brand products, promoting the development of local industries.
