Earlier, a member of the Legislative Assembly of Macau submitted a written inquiry urging the Macau government to proactively coordinate with gaming companies to establish management fees for satellite casinos, ensuring a smooth transition for these establishments and safeguarding employee employment and community economic stability. The Macau Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau responded that they would take follow-up actions in accordance with the law and continue to assess the operating environment of the gaming industry while maintaining close communication with industry stakeholders and other government departments.
The Bureau emphasized that the “Second Five-Year Development Plan” for Macau’s economy and society (2021-2025), along with the recently amended Gaming Operations Law, highlights that the gaming industry must aim to enrich the content of Macau as a global tourism and leisure center and promote moderate diversification of Macau’s economy. As for the satellite casinos not designated as entertainment premises, relevant laws have established transitional provisions, and the authorities will take actions in accordance with the law to address any situations that may affect the proper operation of the gaming industry and social stability.
Additionally, the Macau Labor Affairs Bureau will monitor compliance with labor laws and ensure that employees’ labor rights are safeguarded. If any employees are affected by changes in business operations, the Labor Bureau will provide advisory services related to labor rights, employment consultations, vocational training information, job registration, as well as employment matching and assistance for job transitions.
