The Macau Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau has experienced another personnel change. According to an announcement from the Macau government, Deputy Director Chui Hou Ian has had his position terminated and has canceled his registration in the provident fund system as of February 8 of this year. Following Chui’s departure, there is currently only one deputy director, Lei Seak Chio, remaining at the bureau, while the position of director is still vacant, continuing to be filled by Deputy Director Lio Chi Chong as acting director.
The announcement further states that Chui Hou Ian has completed five years of contributions under the provident fund system. According to relevant regulations, he is entitled to a 100% equity ownership ratio in the “Personal Contribution Account” and a 25% equity ownership ratio in the “Macau Special Administrative Region Contribution Account.”
According to the regulations of the civil service provident fund system, when a contributor’s termination of employment is confirmed, especially for any of the following six reasons, their registration is automatically canceled: reaching the age of 65 (unless otherwise specified by other regulations); exceeding the statutory limit for days absent due to illness; death or being declared permanently incapacitated for reasons not specified below; death or being declared permanently incapacitated due to workplace accidents, illnesses caused by the job, or as a result of humanitarian actions or social contributions; dismissal based on disciplinary or criminal regulations; or termination of employment due to performance evaluation results.
However, the government announcement did not specify the reason behind Chui Hou Ian ‘s termination. Chui was appointed as deputy director of the bureau on February 8, 2023, on a fixed-term basis, with the appointment justified by the vacancy of the position and his personal resume indicating he possesses the professional capability and talent for the role.
