The Londoner Macao hosted a premiere on Sunday (26 March) for five selected movies from the “2022 Macau Film Arts New Thinking Microfilm Shooting Support Project”, which is organized by the St. Lazarus Parish Creative Industry Promotion Association and sponsored by Sands China Limited.
This program has attracted 22 teams to submit script applications. After being selected by the judges, 5 teams were selected and funded to produce original microfilms.
“Sands China’s sponsorship of this project is not only in line with the SAR government’s goal of economic diversification and the “tourism + culture” policy, but also an important measure we have taken to cultivate local film talents in Macau.,” said Mr Wilfred Wong, President of Sands China Ltd,
The 5 selected microfilms premiered at the Londoner on Sunday include “Golden Chef”, “Travel in Place”, “Unlock”, “Bucket List” and “Broken News”. More than 150 people spent more than half a year in shooting and post-production.
Mr Wong added that Sands China’s sponsorship of the project aimed to sow the seeds of art, provide practical opportunities for local young people who are interested in this field, cultivate more potential film talents, and let film art continue to thrive in Macau.
It has been 11 years since the “Macau Film Arts New Thinking Course” was launched in 2011. Over the years, it has cooperated with various partners and is committed to cultivating local film talents. Professionals in the film industry from all over the world are invited to serve as teachers to teach students about film production. So far, it has cultivated about 300 people and produced more than 30 sets of short films and micro films.
